Support for cultural workers impacted by the war in Palestine

The Arts Union has been made aware of the silencing of artists, academics, and students in different cities in the U.S. and around the world. We are following these events and are keeping our eye on the situation. We are here to support anyone who is experiencing this or being impacted by the ongoing war being waged in Palestine. Please reach out to us if you need support or want to report any incidents of discrimination. We will update this post as we continue to gather details on each case, and we will post links for more details.

The Arts Union is a non-traditional union building solidarity among artists and arts workers. Among the Arts Union’s Points of Unity are the following statements that guide our work:

Everyone has the right to a living wage and safe working conditions, including the right to work free from harassment based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, ability, or age.

We are fighting against all intersected forms of oppression: settler colonialism, whiteness, capitalism, patriarchy, cis-heteronormativity, sexism, ableism, ageism, xenophobia, neurotypicality, and environmental racism. We believe that land restitution, reparations for the descendants of slavery and the abolition of capitalism are imperative to our collective survival.
